Having qualified from The University of Huddersfield with commendations for both my music degree and PGCE, I began my career as a teacher in a school for students with Special Needs. After working my way up to Lead Teacher for Performing Arts, I left education seeking a more direct approach to making music with people. My career took a different turn as I became an Activities Co-Ordinator in a Residential Care Home, balancing this with raising my two small children. All of these experiences led me to realise my dream and become a Music Therapist in the Nordoff Robbins approach, developing the idea for Sakura as I qualified. I now work in a variety of settings including care homes, a community mental health service, and with private individuals.
